The course is suitable for first-time firearm owners, hunters, recreational target shooters, collectors, security professionals, and anyone who wishes to safely and legally own or acquire non-restricted firearms in Canada.Anyone applying for their first Canadian Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL) for non-restricted firearms must successfully complete the Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC). Since June 2015, first-time applicants can no longer challenge the examinations based on previous firearms knowledge or experience. Attendance at the full course and successful completion of both the written and practical examinations are mandatory requirements before applying for a PAL.
